Photo: Roan High Bluff rhododendron gardens, remnants of the 19th century Cloudland Hotel resort on Roan Mountain that was demolished in 1915.Matt is at Roan High Knob shelter, the highest shelter on the AT at 6,275 ft (1804.3 miles from Katahdin, 370.3 miles from Springer). It is quite cold there now, but the shelter offers some protection. Sir Mix-a-lot would like to announce that a few days ago, Matt hiked Big Butt and he cannot lie. This post is dedicated to Joel and also to Nurit.

So you hike the big butt, and you end up at high knob.
Perhaps thru-hiking has greater appeal than I gave it credit for. Interesting!

Wow-
Sir Mix-a-Lot is working on the blog, too! It's almost like the Surreal Life!
As for Laura's comment...I'll just leave that as it is.

Now Matt, we want to know if you walked like Ronald (fat boy Ronald)--also whether you chose the crevasse or the mounds.

Deep in the woods you're faring
I'm hooked and I can't stop staring
O baby I wanna get witcha
And take your picture.
Though Lisa's postcards are a fabulous substitute.
Watch out for bright lights in Damascus. That last guy ended up doing more travelling, not less.
